The sons and daughters of Irepo Local Government Area have lauded the wife of Oyo State’s Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Ajibola Lawal, recognizing her as a beacon of support for Kishi’s development and a worthy ambassador.
This commendation came during a civic reception celebrating Kishi’s rising stars, organized by the Deputy Governor, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, at the Kishi town hall in Agede.
The reception honored individuals who have distinguished themselves as ambassadors of the Kishi community. Those recognized included Brigadier General W. A. Bakare, Professor Abdulrasheed A. Nasir, Brigadier General A.A Lawal, Professor Suleiman Bashir, Dr. Sanusi Abdullahi A., Professor Ganiyu O. Bashir, and Dr. Nasiru Rahman A.
The Civic Reception Planning Committee, led by Professor Jimoh Oladejo Tijani, presented a special award to the Deputy Governor’s wife, acknowledging her significant contributions to Kishi’s progress.
Tijani highlighted her humanitarian efforts, particularly her role in facilitating employment and appointments for Kishi indigenes. He also noted her commitment to community service and social justice, especially her advocacy for the vulnerable.
Chief Ajibola Lawal was also praised for her pioneering work with Oyo State’s widows’ initiatives and her leadership of the Baamofin Bayo Lawal Empowerment Foundation, which supports those in need.
The committee emphasized that her life exemplifies purposeful leadership and compassionate service.
Receiving the award, Chief Mrs Ajibola Lawal, dedicated it to the people of Kishi, expressing gratitude to God and for the opportunity to be married to a Kishi man.
She pledged to continue supporting the community’s development.
The event was attended by dignitaries including the Oyo State Head of Service, Chief Olubunmi Oni mni; Commissioner for Special Duties, Fauziyat Joke Sanni; Irepo Supervisory Councillor, Yeye Adenike Fauziyat; and a host of others.
