Fasola Industrial Hub: Fisheries College Students Tour Facility, Laud Gov. Makinde

Students from the Federal College of Freshwater Fisheries Technology, New Bussa, paid an educational and industrial visit to the Fasola Agribusiness Transformation Centre (ATC) Industrial Hub on Monday, 11th May 2026, where they applauded the visionary leadership of Seyi Makinde and the exceptional stewardship of the Director-General of Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency, Dr. Debo Akande.

The students, accompanied by their lecturers and institutional representatives, expressed admiration for the level of innovation, infrastructure, and industrial transformation taking place at the Fasola Industrial Hub. According to them, the initiative stands as a practical model for agricultural industrialisation, youth empowerment, food security, and economic development in Nigeria.

During the visit, the students were exposed to modern Agribusiness practices, processing facilities, and investment opportunities embedded within the Fasola ecosystem. They noted that the transformation witnessed at the hub reflects the commitment of the Oyo State Government towards creating sustainable economic opportunities through agriculture and industrialisation.

Speaking during the engagement, Dr Debo Akande DBA CMGR FCMI ascribed the remarkable success of the Fasola Industrial Hub to his principal, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE DSc GSSRS, whose strong political will and unwavering commitment created the enabling environment for the initiative to thrive. He stated that the governor’s visionary leadership has continued to attract local and international investors, with more investors signing up to own spaces within the industrial hub.

Dr Akande further encouraged the students to become practical ambassadors of Agribusiness by embracing innovation, entrepreneurship, and value-chain development capable of transforming Nigeria’s Agricultural sector. He emphasized the need for young people to see Agriculture beyond subsistence practice and position themselves as future drivers of agro-industrial transformation.

The OYSADA Director-General also applauded the tourism tour of participants of ITS Oyo State 2026 to the Fasola Industrial Hub, noting that such exposure would further project Oyo State as a leading destination for Agribusiness, investment, innovation, and industrial tourism in Africa.

The visit ended with words of appreciation from the students, who described the experience as enlightening, inspiring, and worthy of emulation by other states and institutions across the country.
