The Conference of Supervisory Councillors on Agriculture across Oyo State paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), Dr. Debo Akande DBA CMGR FCMI, where they commended the administration of Seyi Makinde FNSE Dsc GSSRS for its commitment to Agricultural development and grassroots transformation.
Speaking during the visit, the Secretary of the forum, Hon. Afeez Ajibola, expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for what he described as a smooth and people-focused administration. He also applauded the leadership of Dr. Akande at OYSADA for driving policies and initiatives that continue to strengthen Agribusiness development across the state.
The Coordinator of the forum, Hon. Stephen Adegboyega, alongside Mrs. Babalola, highlighted several concerns affecting Agricultural activities at the grassroots level. They outlined key demands of the forum, particularly issues relating to improved Agricultural support, access to resources, and stronger collaboration between local government Agricultural offices and the state’s Agribusiness development framework.
In his remarks, Dr. Akande thanked Governor Makinde for the opportunity to serve Oyo State, describing it as a privilege to contribute to the governor’s vision for sustainable development and economic growth.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to establishing industrial and Agribusiness hubs across the seven geopolitical zones of the state. According to him, plans are underway for about 30 industries in Ijaiye, Akinyele Local Government Area, 10 industries in Eruwa, as well as livestock development centres in Ogbomosho and the Oke Ogun zone.
However, over $250 million has been driven into the Agribusiness in oyo state in the last year supporting Rural road and aggregation center to reduce post harvest loss and access for farmers from farm to market through WBRAAMP development of Agribusiness Industrial hubs in Eruwa, ijaiye and Fasola to attract industries for processing of Agricultural products and support value addition for local consumption and export through AFDB SAPZ.
The development of sustainable livestock Industry for economic development through the WBLPRES, input support to small farmers, training and advisory service to small farmers through the WB NCARES, Support for over 1000 young women in Agribusiness through the French government at OYSACTECH, LAUTECH and development medium farmers in Agribusiness by Global Alliance for improved Nutrition.
However more than 20 billion worth of private sector investors are in ATC Agribusiness transformation center at Fasola today.
He concluded by offering prayers for the continued success of the forum members in their respective tenures and wished them a safe journey back to their respective local governments.
