The crème de la crème of Oyo State’s political and social circles gathered today as the Deputy Governor, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, presided over the wedding ceremony (Nikkah Fatiha) of Miss Zainab Popoola, daughter of the former Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Oyo State chapter, Honourable Yekini Popoola.
The well-attended event was a blend of solemn religious observance and vibrant celebration, drawing dignitaries, traditional rulers, and community leaders.
The formal Nikkah Fatiha, the Islamic solemnization ceremony, was meticulously conducted by the highly respected Islamic scholar, Sheik Farouq Onikijipa. Sheik Onikijipa delivered an inspiring sermon on the importance of mutual respect, love, and piety in building a successful Islamic home, guiding the couple through their marital vows.
Serving as the Chairman of the occasion, the Deputy Governor, Barrister Lawal, congratulated the Popoola’s and Ajadi families. He lauded Hon. Yekini Popoola for raising a daughter of character and for his commitment to public service.
In his address to the newly married couple, he emphasized the essence of marriage as a journey built on patience, understanding, and forgiveness.
“Marriage is a sacred institution,” the Deputy Governor stated. “I implore the new couple, Zainab and her husband, to always put God first. May your home be filled with peace, joy, and prosperity. I wish you both a blissful life ahead and a blessed union.”
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the couple and their respective families, followed by a reception where guests celebrated the union.
