Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have vowed to enforce discipline within the party, declaring that they will not succumb to arrogance, impunity, or divisive tendencies.
Speaking on behalf of the governors, Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, said on Tuesday during the inauguration of the National Convention Planning Committee that the governors are not cowards and are ready to confront anyone seeking to derail the party’s progress.
Mohammed’s remarks came in response to fresh threats from FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and his allies, who have continued to challenge the party’s National Elective Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
After a meeting in Abuja on Monday, Wike’s camp outlined six conditions the PDP leadership must meet for the convention to hold peacefully.
But Mohammed dismissed the threats, insisting the convention would go ahead as planned.
“We are not cowards, and we are not afraid of anybody,” he declared. “We are capable of navigating this party beyond the shenanigans, beyond the arrogance, and beyond the impunity of others. Enough is enough we will not allow anyone to take us for granted any longer.”
Would you like me to make the headline more fiery/political (to reflect the confrontation with Wike) or more statesmanlike (to emphasize party unity and discipline)?
