The member representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency of Oyo state in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, has re-affirmed his earlier stance of pursuing lawful remedies against an orchestrated smear campaign targeted at him by one Oriyomi Hamzat, during a live facebook broadcast streamed via Oriyomi Hamzat Live.

The lawmaker made this declaration during a visit to Molete area of Ibadan to evaluate the extent of destruction, console affected traders and families, and provide immediate relief to victims affected by the violent attack.

Addressing traders under the Molete bridge, the lawmaker condemned the politically motivated violence as a direct threat to national security and lawlessness, asserting that Oyo state is a peaceful, civilized society governed by the rule of law and not a jungle.

He said the 72 hours ultimatum to the instigators of the attack to fully retract their false statements, withdraw all defamatory online videos, and publish an unreserved public apology across national dailies or face rigorous legal actions still stands as he will not allow anybody destroy his hard earned reputation all in the name of politics.

Moving through the scene of the incident, Hon. Olajide said six severely affected traders whose livelihoods were destroyed have been identified, promising restitution for all damaged goods, destroyed vehicles and lost assets.

Hon. Olajide Odidiomo, who is also the Oyo south senatorial candidate of Allied Peoples’ Movement in the forthcoming 2027 general election also promised to present a brand new motorcycle to a commercial rider who was brutally assaulted and had his motorcycle carted away during the attack, reassuring the trading community that his office will ensure no innocent victim suffers such violent attack again.

The federal lawmaker also paid a visit to the family of late Chief Lamidi Adedibu, whose household and supporters were also targeted in the assault, offering solidarity and support to the family.

Hon. Olajide disclosed that several individuals sustained life threatening injuries and are currently hospitalized across various medical centers in Ibadan, while mourning those who tragically lost their lives during the unprovoked mayhem. He announced that he would personally settle all medical bills for every hospitalized victim, ensuring that quality healthcare is administered without financial strain on the grieving families.

Reaffirming his commitment to the peace, welfare and security of his constituents, the lawmaker called on security agencies to conduct a swift investigation to bring every perpetrator and sponsor of the violence to justice. He urged residents across Ibadan North-West, Ibadan South-West, and Oyo south senatorial district to remain calm and law abiding, emphasizing that no amount of political intimidation or calculated violence can disrupt the peaceful coexistence and democratic progress of Oyo state.
