2027: Ibarapaland Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) Leaders Challenge Remi Oseni To Produce Evidence Of Claimed Projects, Interventions

…GIVE APC CANDIDATE 24 HOURS TO PROVIDE DOCUMENTS ON ROADS, TRANSFORMERS, HOSPITALS, FARM INPUTS

Leaders of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) in Ibarapaland have demanded documentary and photographic evidence to substantiate various projects and interventions claimed by the member, representing Ido/Ibarapa- East federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Remi Oseni.

The demand was contained in a communique issued after a meeting of APM leaders across Ibarapaland, attended by political leaders and candidates of the party, where the participants said the requested documents would enable members of the public to independently verify the claims ahead of the 2027 election.

The leaders specifically challenged Oseni to provide evidence of the nine road projects he reportedly listed as having been facilitated in Ido/Ibarapa-East federal constituency, including photographs, videos, locations, project details, approvals and other relevant documents establishing the status of the projects.

They also demanded evidence of the reported 11 new road projects which Oseni said had received approval and were ready for flag-off, asking that copies of the approvals, locations, funding arrangements and implementing agencies be made available for public scrutiny.

The demands followed a recent town hall meeting in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo state, at which Oseni reportedly highlighted several constituency interventions and projects as part of his record in public office. The report also stated that he spoke about road projects and other interventions across Oyo South.

The APM leaders also questioned the impact of Oseni’s chairmanship of the House of Representatives Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) on Oyo State.
They challenged the APC candidate to provide details of federal road projects he had facilitated for the state since assuming the committee chairmanship, including the locations of such projects, project values, contractors, implementation status and relevant government approvals.

They further asked him to state the number of Oyo State residents who had benefited from employment opportunities allegedly facilitated through FERMA during his tenure as committee chairman.
The leaders said the information would enable residents to assess the practical impact of the position on Oyo State rather than relying solely on political assertions.

The APM leaders also challenged a statement attributed to Oseni that about 70 per cent of National Assembly members were chief executive officers, governors or federal ministers and that those without such status were “bench warmers.”
They demanded that the APC candidate provide the constitutional, statutory or other authoritative basis for the claim, arguing that assertions concerning the constitutional status and responsibilities of elected lawmakers should be supported with verifiable evidence.
The leaders said they expected the relevant constitutional provision or other authoritative reference to be produced if the claim was to be sustained.

The communique also faulted Oseni’s reported claim concerning the distribution of 42 transformers.
The APM leaders demanded copies of handover documents, installation records, photographs and videos of the installations, as well as a list of beneficiary communities.
They said the locations of the transformers should be made public to enable residents and community leaders to verify their delivery and installation.

The leaders further demanded evidence concerning claims about healthcare projects attributed to the lawmaker.
They asked Oseni to provide the locations and supporting documents for the four health centres he reportedly said he constructed before his election, as well as the two specialist hospitals he reportedly said were constructed or were ongoing after his election.

According to the APM leaders, the information should include the locations, dates of commencement, present status, project contractors or implementing agencies and relevant government documentation.

The APM leaders also demanded evidence concerning the distribution of fertiliser, agrochemicals and farm equipment reportedly undertaken by Oseni.
They specifically requested beneficiary records, locations of distribution, photographs, videos and handover documents relating to the intervention.

The APM leaders said the beneficiaries should be identifiable and available for verification, while the documentation should indicate the quantity of items distributed and communities covered.
They also demanded evidence supporting the reported distribution of 7,000 chemicals and sprayers, including the number distributed, beneficiaries and locations.

The leaders similarly requested details of borehole projects reportedly facilitated by Oseni.
They asked that the beneficiary communities, locations, dates of installation, photographs and relevant project documents be made available so that residents could physically verify the projects.

The APM leaders said their demands were not intended to substitute political debate with rhetoric, but to place specific claims before the public for verification.
They stressed that political office holders seeking elective positions should be prepared to provide details of projects and interventions attributed to them, particularly where such claims form part of their campaign record.

The leaders said the requested evidence should be made available within 24 hours to the public, maintaining that project locations, photographs, videos, approvals and beneficiary records would allow residents to independently assess the claims.

They further said the principle that “he who asserts must prove” should guide public discourse concerning projects and achievements attributed to political office holders.

Political leaders present at the meeting include, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin; APM candidate for Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Dr Adebayo Adepoju; and APM candidate for Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Engr. Kolawole Sheu Adedeji, Executive Chairman of Ibarapa Central Local Government, Hon. Sola Adeleke; Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke; and former Oyo State Commissioner for Environment, Dr Majekodunmi Aborode, among other party leaders and stakeholders.
