The Executive Adviser to the Governor of Oyo State on Agribusiness and International Cooperation and Director General of the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), Dr. Debo Akande, DBA, CMgr, FCMI, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Oyo State Government to accelerating industrialization, Agribusiness growth, and job creation through strategic partnerships.
Dr. Akande expressed delight at facilitating a high-level meeting between the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and a delegation of engineers from Saba Exports Ltd, an advanced sugar industrial technology company based in India. The delegation, led by its Managing Director, Mr. Khan Waseem Akhlaq, is currently in Oyo State to undertake the pre-commissioning and commissioning processes of the Oyo Sugar and Derivatives Industries Limited factory in Iseyin.
Speaking after the engagement, Dr. Akande described the visit as another significant milestone in the state’s drive to become a leading Agribusiness and industrial hub in Nigeria.
He noted that the commencement of operations at the factory later this year will create over 500 direct jobs, strengthen the livelihoods of approximately 1,000 sugarcane farmers through sustainable outgrower partnerships, and further boost economic activities across the state.
According to him, the factory is projected to produce 24–27 tonnes of brown sugar and 18 tonnes of molasses daily, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s drive for increased local sugar production and import substitution.
Dr. Akande commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to creating an enabling environment that continues to attract private sector investments capable of transforming the economy and improving the lives of the people of Oyo State.
