On Friday, 8th May 2026, the serene and rapidly transforming Fashola Farm Hub in Oyo State played host to a distinguished delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Sierra Leone, led by the team lead, Mrs. Elizabeth. The visit further reaffirmed Oyo State’s growing reputation as a leading force in Agribusiness growth, Agricultural innovation, and Sustainable food Development in Africa.
During the tour of the facility, Mrs. Elizabeth expressed deep admiration for the visionary initiatives of the Oyo State Government in advancing Agriculture and agro-industrialisation. She commended the remarkable transformation taking place at the Fashola Agribusiness Industrial Hub, describing it as a practical model worthy of emulation across the African continent.
Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the Director-General of OYSADA, Mr. Popoola Olushola warmly received the guests and personally took them round the hub facilities. He encouraged the visitors to make the most of the experience while showcasing the various Agricultural and industrial components that make the Fashola Farm Hub a reference point for Agribusiness excellence in Nigeria and beyond.
According to her, Oyo State has distinguished itself as a sister epitome of Agribusiness development through strategic planning, investment in Agriculture, and commitment to food security. She particularly applauded the dedication and leadership efforts driving the success of the hub and noted that the achievements recorded within a short period remain inspiring.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mrs. Elizabeth also appreciated the warm hospitality extended to the team by Dr. Debo Akande DBA CMGR FCMI, the Phenomenal Executive Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Agribusiness and International Cooperation Development acknowledging his commitment to excellence and his contributions toward making Oyo State proud through impactful Agricultural reforms and system-building initiatives.
In his remarks, Dr. Debo Akande ascribed the successes recorded at the Fashola Farm Hub and other Agribusiness initiatives in the state to the unwavering political will and visionary leadership of his principal, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE Dsc GSSRS. He noted that the governor’s commitment to sustainable Agriculture, industrialization, and economic expansion created the enabling environment that has allowed the Agribusiness initiative to thrive and become worthy of emulation across the globe.
Dr. Akande further revealed that the Oyo State Agribusiness model has continued to attract international recognition and partnerships, citing Ghana as one of the countries that recently adopted the state’s template for the establishment of Agribusiness Industrial Hubs in their country. He stressed that the growing global attention being attracted by Oyo State remains a testament to the effectiveness of the administration’s developmental policies and strategic investments in agriculture.
The delegation further assured that Sierra Leone would work towards replicating similar agribusiness models in their home country, stressing their readiness to continually seek guidance, partnership, and technical collaboration from Oyo State in order to strengthen agricultural productivity and rural economic development.
