Labour leaders in Oyo State, led by the Chairmen of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), on Friday paid a Sallah visit to the Deputy Governor of the state, His Excellency, Barrister Bayo Lawal, at his Bashorun residence.
The visit, which coincided with the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, provided an opportunity for the organised labour to engage with the state government and further strengthen existing relations.
Speaking during the visit, the Deputy Governor expressed deep appreciation to the labour force for their unwavering support to the present administration, noting that their cooperation has significantly contributed to the tremendous achievements recorded by the government.
Barrister Lawal emphasized that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde remains committed to sustaining a cordial relationship with workers, assuring that their support and sacrifices would never be taken for granted.
“The successes we have recorded as a government would not have been possible without the understanding and cooperation of the labour force in Oyo State,” he said.
He further reiterated that the welfare of workers would continue to occupy a central position in the government’s policies and programmes, stressing that the administration is dedicated to improving the working conditions and overall wellbeing of its workforce.
The Deputy Governor also used the occasion to solicit continued cooperation from workers and the general public, urging all stakeholders to remain committed to the collective goal of moving the state to greater heights.
He added that with sustained unity and support, Oyo State is on a steady path toward achieving its developmental aspirations and delivering more dividends of democracy to its citizens.
The labour leaders, in their remarks, commended the state government for its worker-friendly policies and pledged their continued support for the administration.
