Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka, former Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a letter dated February 10, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the PDP, Ward 5, Oyo East Local Government Area of Oyo State, Chief Ilaka conveyed his decision to step down from the party.
Titled “Resignation of Party Membership,” the brief correspondence stated that he tendered his resignation “with the utmost humility” from the Peoples Democratic Party.
Chief Ilaka expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities accorded him during his time as a member. He also thanked the PDP for what he described as the “unalloyed support” given to him over the years.

“I am eternally grateful for the opportunities afforded to me by the party and the unalloyed support given to me over the years. Till we meet again,” the letter read.
The resignation marks a significant political development in Oyo State, given Chief Ilaka’s role as a former Chief of Staff to Governor Makinde and his longstanding involvement in the state’s political landscape.
As of the time of filing this report, no further details have been provided regarding his next political move.
