A delegation of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders from Saki East Local
Government Area paid a solidarity visit to the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, on Monday, to affirm their unwavering support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership and the Makinde/Lawal ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.
The leaders, led by Alhaji Owookola Rabiu from Ogbooro, stressed their unity behind the Governor and his Deputy, commending Barr. Lawal for his performance and loyalty which they noted has made the Oke-Ogun zone proud.
They praised the Makinde administration for its remarkable development initiatives over the past six years, particularly citing ongoing projects like the road network connecting the entire Oke-Ogun zone. They specifically appealed for the timely construction of the Agbonle road among other key projects.
To further strengthen the party, the delegation urged the Deputy Governor to engage with local government chairmen to ensure regular party meetings. They also called on Governor Makinde and the party leadership to ensure the selection of credible candidates for the 2027 elections to guarantee victory.
Deputy Governor Commends Unity, Assures on Projects and Internal Democracy
Barr. Lawal expressed delight at the visit, describing it as a strong demonstration of the party’s unity and commitment to Governor Makinde’s continued leadership.
He acknowledged that unity is key to strength and is paramount for Saki East and the entire Oke-Ogun zone. Sharing his political experience, he urged the leaders not to be distracted by those leaving the party, predicting they would soon return.
The Deputy Governor provided an update on the administration’s commitment to the zone’s infrastructure, confirming that Governor Makinde is dedicated to commencing additional road projects, including the Agbonle road and the Igboho-Saki road. He assured the leaders that all projects initiated by the current administration would be completed.
Addressing internal party matters, Barr. Lawal emphasized that the PDP leadership will not impose candidates on any local government, affirming that leaders would be allowed to choose their representatives. He also promised continued financial support for the party in the zone and reminded them about the upcoming party convention scheduled for November 15.
Also present at the meeting were Honorable TT, Chairman of Chairmen in the Oke-Ogun zone, and the Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Hon. Abdul-Waheed Adelabu, who both echoed the vital importance of party unity.
