Oyo state Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has inaugurated ambassadors of the Oyo State Agency for the control of AIDS (OYSACA).

Those inaugurated included the Balogun of Ogbomosoland, Chief Saka Balogun; House of Assembly members representing Atisbo/Saki East Federal Constituency, Hon. Rilwan Saminu also known as Wale Canada; Chief Mutiat Ladoja; Hon. Shina Abiodun Peller, Emeritus Arc Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu and former chairman Irepo Local Government, Hon. Adeleke.

During the inauguration ceremony at the conference centre of OYACA on Wednesday, the Deputy Governor noted that the event marked a significant milestone in our collective journey towards a future where HIV/AIDS is no longer a public health threat.

He emphasized that the ambassadors are not merely representatives, but powerful agents of change, advocating for the voiceless, illuminating hope for those in darkness, and driving towards a more inclusive and compassionate society.

He added that their role will inspire transformation, promote education, and ultimately save lives.

The Deputy Governor said: “As ambassadors, you are not just representatives; you are champions of change. You are the voices for those who have been silenced, the beacons of hope for those in darkness, and the catalysts for a more inclusive and compassionate society. Your role will inspire change, promote education, and ultimately save lives.

“I commend the Oyo State Agency for the control of AIDS for this initiative, which underscores the importance of community engagement and leadership in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Your efforts will undoubtedly contribute to reducing stigma, increasing awareness, and ensuring that everyone has access to HIV prevention, treatment, and care.

“As we embark on this journey together, let us remember the power of collective action. Let us work tirelessly to ensure that our efforts yield tangible results, and that we leave no one behind. Let us strive to create an environment where everyone feels empowered to make informed decisions about their health and where those living with HIV/AIDS are supported and embraced.”

Barr. Lawal noted that the present administration made health as one of its pillars since the first term and also as part of the sustainable development programs in the OMITUNTUN 2.0.

He pledged the continuous support to the ambassadors stating, “Together, let’s work towards the WHO’s goal of reducing HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030, and creating a future where it’s a manageable condition, allowing everyone to live with dignity and purpose.”

He expressed confidence in achieving this goal with the distinguished ambassadors and cooperation of the people, wishing them success in their task.

The event was attended by top government functionaries, including the Chairman of Oyo State Agency for Adult and Non-Formal Education (AANFE), Ayo Olopoenia, and host of others.
