We Are One Family The Moment We Enter The Legislative Chamber, 2020 Budget Will Be Ready Before Christmas — OYHA Minority Leader, Rt Hon. Alarape

The minority leader of the 9th Oyo state house of assembly, Rt Hon. Ashimiyu Alarape has said that lawmakers of the 9th assembly are making speedy progress on its legislative and oversight functions due to understanding of the task before them and the determination to set aside party affiliations in the interest of the state in order to make meaningful impact on the people adding that the moment lawmakers walk into the hallowed chamber there no more personal or political party interests.

The former speaker of the Oyo state house of assembly now the minority leader stated that people ordinarily would expect some sort of reactions and approach to issues on party lines but added that the people must understand that lawmakers were not elected into offices to play politics but to deliver good governance noting that it is a wrong impression to expect such since nobody is working at cross purposes.

The versatile and well experienced lawmaker made these remarks yesterday while having a media chat with Sunrise Bulletin correspondent in his office at the Oyo state secretariat, Ibadan on the possibility of getting the 2020 budget ready before Christmas considering the fact that the executive governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde has promised to commence implementation by January, 2020.

The lawmaker stated further that the process of the ongoing budget defense by ministries, departments, and agencies has been revealing and all the lawmakers can do is to give the governor maximum support in order to ensure that the yearnings of the people are met.

He said “Political parties are just vehicles to get political power, the overall interest is that of the people who voted for those in power in trust that they would protect their collective interest.

“If we come here to continue playing politics with the destiny of our people considering the limited years per term of office, when are we going to start addressing the core issues of the people who put us here?.

“The moment we walk into the hallowed chambers we are all family and we all relate as such because we have a full understanding of the task before us as lawmakers and we can not allow party affiliations to constitute any form of distraction on our path delivery of good governance as state legislators.”

Hon. Alarape however stated the house sometimes disagree on different issues that bothers on government policies but such disagreements are for the greater good of the people of Oyo State adding that 2020 budget will be ready for the governor before Christmas.
