The Commandant in the state, Iskilu Akinsanya, made this known while parading the suspects at the command Headquarters in Agodi, Ibadan, the state capital.

Akinsanya said that the command discovered the operation of the illegal miners around 4pm on Monday as a result of some intel it has gathered about activities of some illegal miners in the area and immediately dispatched his men for swift action.

The commandant stated that no fewer than five suspects were arrested with one truck fully loaded with precious stone.

He said “We discovered that some of the companies were mining without licence and this is against the law of the land.

“Investigation still continues and they will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed,” Akinsanya said.

He therefore enjoined all Nigerians to always engage in legal business and obtain necessary documents and government permit before engaging in any business.
