Simeon Lalong Plateau State Governor Commends NNPC Oil Exploration In The Upper And Middle Benue Trough
Plateau State Governor and Chairman, Northern Governor’s Forum, Simon Lalong has commended the untiring effort of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC for exploring oil and gas in the Upper and Middle Benue Trough.
Lalong gave the commendation when the Management of the organisation paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos. The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Professor Sonni Tyoden noted that the NNPC under the leadership of Mele Kyari has done exceedingly well in identifying and unraveling geological deposits in the Upper and Middle Benue Trough.

Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mele Kyari through the Group General Manager, Frontiers Exploration Services, Alhaji Abdullahi Bomai stressed that NNPC has acquired and used modern equipment which has resulted to the identification of hydrocarbon materials in the Upper and Middle Benue Trough. He further disclosed that NNPC has identified additional oil and gas province known as the Kolmani discovery in addition to those of the Niger-Delta as well as increase the worth of the Benue Trough with a billion barrels of oil reserves among others. Kyari also sued for the cooperation of the Government and people of Plateau State as skilled, semi skilled and unskilled workers will be engaged in different operations in the two identified Local Government Areas of Kanam and Wase which have prospects of oil and gas deposits.
