The PDP governorship candidate in Oyo state Engr. Seyi Makinde has assured the people of Orelope local government area of the state to make the Modeke dam functional when he assumes office , Our correspondent who has been monitoring the PDP campaign train reports that the PDP candidate Seyi Makinde gave this assurance to the people when he visited the palace of Oba John Bolarinwa Oyetola the Onigboho of Igboholand, speaking further he noted that the Dam which was the initiative of the party’s deputy governorship candidate Engr. Raufu Olaniyan while he was in service, as an Engineer at the Ogun Osun River Basin Authority, an agency of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.
He noted that his administration will put all modality in place to make the Modeke dam functional, lamenting it’s neglect since it was constructed in 1988.
Seyi Makinde also disclosed that aside from the issue of poverty which will be tackled headlong , one of the challenges confronting the community was the unavailability of potable and drinkable water which ought not to be so , due to level of work already done at the Modeke dam, but ironically , the completion and utilization of the project had suffered great setback due to the failure of successive government.
He said his deputy Engineer Rauf Olaniyan who has indept knowledge of the dam,would be an edge for the PDP Administration to complete work o the dam and make it functional.
Meanwhile, the PDP Governorship candidate while presenting the party’s blue print and seeking for the support of the entire Igboho community explained to the traditional council that though all candidates from various party are all children to the monarch, the PDP candidates from the federal to the state level are outstanding , moreover the people’s Democratic Party is a party that is well structured with special attention and focus for the people of Nigeria, hence he implored them to help educate the residents to desist from selling their votes, as it is against the will and law of God, for people to sell their conscience.
He added that the people should endeavor to vote their conscience and avoid being deceived and manipulated by some greedy and selfish politicians who will only make promises and run away when given support to achieve their goal.
Responding , the Onigboho of Igboho land Oba Job Bolarinwa who was represented by Chief job Arusa expressed gratitude for the visit by the PDP team. He thanked the party for chosen one of their sons aa the deputy governorship of the party, and assured Makinde of their support.
The campaign trail also visited major towns and communities in Saki East local government area of the state. amongst which includes Sepeteri, Ogboro, Ago Amodu, and Oje Owode .
Among top party chieftains who accompanied Engr. Seyi Makinde to the meeting included Engr. Raufu Olaniyan Deputy governorship candidate, Alhaji Kumi Mustapha PDP state Chairman, Bayo Lawal DG campaign organisation for Seyi Makinde, Dr. Nureni Adeniran former local government chairman south west and former commissioner of Education Oyo state, Sen. Hosiah Agboola and Chief Jacob Adetoro and Adekola Adeoye PDP Youth leader Oyo state.
