Public affairs analysts and commentators have described the current political battle in Oyo state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to sheer selfish interest born out of greed and not public interest, commending the state governor, Seyi Makinde for his commitment towards fulfilling his electoral promises to the people of the state.

The weekly radio program which had embattled Oyo State PDP Youths Leader, Adekola Adeoye as a guest is anchored by Abolade Salami, and is aimed at keeping the people abreast with past and present events with a view to correcting ills of the society especially in public offices.

Sunrisebulletin recalls that youths from across the state in  PDP had last week after a meeting passed a vote of no confidence on the embattled youth leader following some allegations levelled against him by the youths.

The commentators who made this assertion on Sunday 27th of June while featuring on a Sunday morning live Yoruba radio program on Fresh FM 105.9 tagged “Aroba”and monitored by Sunrisebulletin.com, maintained that the current crop of politicians in the country across all political parties are only interested in personal gains not public welfare.

Adekola Adeoye who alleged the present PDP Government in the state under the leadership of Seyi Makinde lamented that party members who worked and laboured for the election victory which enthroned the present administration were denied their benefits leading to internal wranglings among some of the aggrieved members.

Adeoye noted that the present PDP in Oyo state comprises of old PDP, old Accord party, old Social Democratic Party, SDP, and old Alliance for Democracy, AD, but alleged that only members of old SDP which was Seyi Makinde’s former political party before joining PDP was given prominence and allowed to control the present Government.

The embattled youth leader also alleged that the present Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Seun Fakorede, Special Assistant to Governor Makinde On Youths and Sports, Kazeem Bolarinwa and others in the cabinet were not part of the struggle to the 2019 PDP victory.

When asked about the current situation in Oyo state PDP with regards to the ongoing internal crisis, Adeoye explained that the umbrella party remains one and not divided but noted that the aggrieved leaders and members such as Honourable Mulikat Adeola Akande, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan, Femi Babalola, Alhaji Nureni Akanbi, ex Oyo deputy governor, Alhaji Gbolarumi and others were moved to come together to salvage the situation from what Adeoye described as ‘dominance’ of old SDP members.

Reacting to Adeoye’s submission, the commentators who were also in the studio refuted Adekola Adeoye’s claims over cause of the crisis in Oyo PDP stressing that Seyi Makinde has done and is doing his best in terms of commitment to his election promises to the people.

The commentators alleged that the political battle against Makinde by the PDP leaders was not in public interest but personal gains which according to the commentator was wrong for state development.

“We were in the trenches together then, continuously subjecting the course of governance to interrogation, though, you have since left us for politics, good!

“Our thought was that we could not clean the room from outside, we have to start the cleaning from inside the house.

“You know, Awolowo wrote extensively about the thesis, antithesis, and synthesis. It looked like we already have the thesis and antithesis, we are only left with the synthesis to experience.

“Synthesis are the market women who don’t even know the power they have. People will be shouting we worked, we worked, did politicians worked for Seyi or the for the people of Oyo state? We worked for the people of the state not Seyi Makinde, as a person.

“Because we thought we should bring about a paradigm shift in our leadership recruitment process. What I’m saying in essence is that the masses are just like able bodied persons walking with crutches, until they mobilize themselves before people realize that these politicians are nothing.

“How many are the politicians that vote? I mean the real politicians, but due respect to the governor, to some reasonable extent, he is fulfilling the covenant he had with the masses.

“What is currently happening among them in the party, is it about governance, is it about how to move Oyo state forward? I think it’s all about greed! I mean, we are live on air!

“What he gave me is not enough or he is yet to give me something, do you people want to stifle the masses dry? Have we committed such a amount of offense?

“So, these are the issues, unless the common man on the street rises, and look the power in their hands they do not know.” The commentator explained.

The commentators however, charged the masses to be more political conscious and be sensitive to the choice of leaders to settle for during election time.
