Security: Oyo Police Command Winning War Against Crime, Apprehends Suspected Robbers, Cultists During Operation
Following Strategic deployment of security intelligence and policing assets, Oyo State Police Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ngozi Onadeko, the Oyo State Police Command has recorded yet another feat in its crusade against crime and criminality.
The State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), DSP Adewale Osifeso, made this known exclusively to Sunrisebulletin on May 29, stressing that the State Police Command is ahead of of its game in providing adequate security for lives and properties of all residents in the state.
According to the Police Spokesman, Oyo Police Command is operating under renewed zeal and commitment to ensure it flushes out all criminal elements in the state and make sure all residents can go to sleep peacefully with their two eyes closed.
DSP Osifeso said: “The Command’s Monitoring Unit while on purposeful simultaneous intelligence-led raids and strategic surveillance between 13th-26th of May 2021, apprehended hoodlums suspected to be Robbers and Cultists responsible for strings of Kidnappings, Gun running, Rape and Robbery in Oyo town and its surrounding envirions.
“The maurading hoodlums were arrested in their secret hideout while planning to unleash another round of mayhem on innocent citizens in that axis.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that they all belong to the infamous cult group and were on a quest to establish supremacy in the axis.
“Comprehensive investigations are ongoing to rid the other fleeing members of the group.
“Suspects arrested by the police include Abass Kamilu aged 26, Basit Azeez aged 26yrs, Aworonke Asimiyu aged 32yrs, Olalekan Moruf aged 27yrs.
“Others are Rasheed Taiwo aged 25yrs, Quadri Raheem aged 30yrs, Wasiu Lekan aged 22 yrs, Salaudeen Ridwan aged 19yrs, Mustapha Abass aged 19 yrs, Jimoh Afeez aged 20 yrs, Habeeb Idowu aged 17yrs, and Bello Jamiu aged 28yrs.
“Items which have been deposited as exhibits recovered from the suspects include Amulets, Catapult, Weed suspected to be Indian hemp, two single barrel cut to size pistols, one double barrel cut to size gun, locally made revolver, two live and one expended cartridges, one black locally made pistol, and red charm attached to amulet.
Meanwhile, the Police Spokesman also said that officers from the state Command earlier on 26th of May, clamped down on counterfeit currency syndicate during one of its monitoring operations in Oyo town.
“Monitoring Unit Operatives attached to Oyo State Police command on Wednesday 26th of May 2021, apprehended one Ibrahim Adewale, aged 47yrs at Elekara area in Oyo town.
“Ibrahim, leader of a 2 man syndicate whose mode of operation was to deposit counterfeit naira notes with unsuspecting Point of Sales (POS) operators and then withdraw from another in close proximity through the help of his partner, ran out of luck on Wednesday as the Ninety-Eight (98) pieces of a thousand naira note deposited was immediately discovered.
“He was immediately apprehended while his partner took to his heels after endlessly waiting for a credit alert on his handset.
“Efforts are in top gear to arrest the fleeing member of the syndicate.” DSP Osifeso said.
The Oyo State Police Command according to its Spokesman has advised parents to be mindful of their children and wards activities at home and in their various institutions in order to know properly account for them.
DSP Osifeso maintained that security in Oyo state is no longer business as usual as the state command is deploying new strategic approach to combat crime and rid the society of all criminal elements noting that anyone with any form of criminal motive or intent coming into Oyo state should think twice because there will be no hiding place for them.
