Security: Oyo Police Command Nabs 23yr Old Car Snatcher Disguised As A Soldier In Ogun

The Oyo State Police Command has said that it has recorded big success in its fight against crime and criminal elements as its officers on Wednesday nabbed a car snatcher who disguised as a military officer on the road.

Oyo State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), DSP Adewale Osifeso, who disclosed this on Wednesday 25th of May in a signed press statement which was made available exclusively to sunrisebulletin described the suspect’s arrest and recovered vehicle as a ‘show of gallantry by the Police Force’.

According to the statement, a 25 year old accident victim identified as Adegboyega Segun, was at Owode Police Headquarters in Ogbomoso to formally incident his accident experience which occurred along Oke-Anu junction of Ogbomoso around 1300hrs (1pm) of Wednesday 26.

Adegboyega narrated that a young man of about 23 years of age identified as Azeez Kareem who disguised as a soldier approached him at the accident scene and offered to move the accidented vehicle away from the spot to the nearest Operation Burst Base.

He explained further that in order to avoid further damage on his car by other road users easily obliged Kareem’s offer for help and handed the Lexus RX330 jeep keys to the suspect who immediately moved the vehicle to Ogun State where he was tracked down by the Police.

The suspect was immediately arrested and the stolen vehicle was recovered through what DSP Osifeso described as immediate ‘deployment of tactical and intelligence apparatus’.

According to the Oyo State Police Spokesman, comprehensive investigations have commenced immediately in order to crackdown on the suspect’s network and supply chain.

“Today Wednesday 27th May, 2021, at about 1300hrs, one Adegboyega Segun ‘m’ aged 25 yrs who was earlier involved in an accident along Oke-Anu junction of Ogbomoso came to Owode Divisional Police Headquarters where he reported that one man whose identity was later discovered to be Azeez Kareem ‘m’ aged 23yrs in the disguise of being a Soldier offered to move the accidented vehicle away from the scene to the nearest Operation Burst Base.

“In other to avoid any form of malicious damage on the vehicle, the complainant handed over the key of the Lexus RX330 jeep to the suspect who immediately moved the vehicle to Ogun State, where he was tracked down, arrested and vehicle recovered through the deployment of tactical and intelligence apparatus.

“In furtherance to the above, comprehensive investigations are ongoing to apprehend as well as crackdown his criminal network and supply chain,” the statement concludes.
