Security: Oyo Police Command Foils Kidnap Attempt In Ibadan, Arrests Suspects

The Oyo State Police Command has said that it’s Special Operatives attached to Moniya Police Division in collaboration with local vigilantes on Saturday foiled an attempted kidnap by some assailants at Moniya area, Akinyele Local Government, Ibadan.
The State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso, who made this known exclusively to sunrisebulletin on Sunday 11th of July, urged residents to remain calm as police is doing everything to ensure continuous security of lives and properties of all residents in the state.
The Police Spokesman lamented how some news medium, especially online, are in the habit of publishing stories based on speculations and rumours without doing due diligence.
He noted that such act is lacking in journalistic social responsibility and detrimental to security operations as well as capable of jeopardizing police investigations.
According to the statement by the Oyo state Police image maker, Oyo state police command has recorded huge success in its response to a distress call by a resident in Moniya over suspicious activities of some persons suspected to be kidnappers in the area.
He maintained that arrests have been made in connection with the attempted kidnap by the assailants who were subdued by joint operation of its Officers and local vigilante group in the area.
He added that investigations are currently ongoing while assuring that details of its investigations will be made public when investigations are concluded.
“An abduction was foiled by Command Operatives attached to Moniya Divisional Police Headquarters in collaboration with vigilantes and local hunters upon the strength of a distress call received at the early hours of Saturday 10/07/2021.
“So far, arrests have been made while comprehensive investigations are ongoing to apprehend other culprits linked with the foiled abduction.
“Meanwhile updates would be provided soonest,please, DSP Osifeso stated.
