The honourable commissioner for agriculture and rural development in Oyo state Honourable Ojemuyiwa Jacob Ojekunle has stated that the executive governor of Oyo state is fully committed to industrializing Oyo state and the state is targeting  thousands of jobs for both local entrepreneurs under micro small and medium enterprises as well as foreign investors by creating a business friendly environment while working to guarantee food security in Oyo state.

He made this statement while addressing newsmen in his office on Friday in Ibadan. He explained that the governor is very concerned with the state of unemployment in the state especially, the teeming youths who could become entrepreneurs through agribusiness. He explained further that the ministry of agriculture and rural development is already working on its plan which is aimed at creating the needed attraction at the rural areas and farm settlements for young graduates who may not understand the goldmine lying fallow in agribusiness.

He stated that one of the key areas that many of the unemployed youths get confused about agribusiness is that it is mostly perceived as farm work which is not true noting that agribusiness is a very large enterprising venture with almost boundless opportunities across different value chains in cash crops, diary foods, livestocks etc.

Hon. Ojemuyiwa stated further that the state government is already talking with foreign investors with a view to revolutionizing agribusiness in Oyo state to create thousands of employment opportunities for the teeming unemployed populace while repositioning Oyo state for investors destination in Agribusiness.

He said “I can assure you that governor Makinde is already discussing with foreign investors with a view to come and set up industries and factories that will produce tomato pastes, fruits juice made of our natural mangoes, cashews, oranges, pineapple, etc. We are going to turn our farm settlements to rural cities so that rural dwellers can have access to most of the social amenities available in the city such as good roads, schools, hospitals, recreation centres where people can gather together to have fun and socialize, all these are in our plan and very soon the good people of Oyo state will start to enjoy all these things.”

He expressed optimism that at the pace at which the state government is working, the people of Oyo state will begin to feel the impact in a near future, he therefore, enjoined all the unemployed particularly the youths to avail themselves of all the opportunities the state government will be providing through agribusiness so that the issue of waiting for non existent white collar jobs leading to frustration can be a thing of the past as governor Makinde is fully committed to industrializing Oyo state through agriculture.
