Oyo Police Command Parades Suspected Kidnapper, Killer Of Akinyele Community Youth Leader

Two Fulani suspects have been paraded for killing the Akinyele community Youth Leader in Onidundun Village, Akinyele local Government, Oyo State.

The persons who were said to the prime suspects in the murder of one Olori odo of a Community in Akinyele were on Monday paraded alongside thirty one (31) other criminal suspects at the Oyo State Police Command Headquarters Eleyele Ibadan.

The suspects also confessed to the crime while speaking with journalists at the state Force Headquarters.

Parading the suspects before journalists, the State Police Commissioner, CP. Ngozi Onadeko fdc, gave the names of the prime suspects as Usman Mohammed, aged 27, Umaru Mohammed, aged 16.

CP. Ngozi explained that on 9th July, 2021, one Taofeek Olaide, male, received a phone call from one Umaru Mohammed also male, claiming to have cows for sale on the instruction of his father at Kara market in Akinyele area of Ibadan.

CP Onadeko said: “Upon the receipt of this call, Taofeek Olaide ‘m’ alongside one Yusuf Taiwo ‘m’ boarded a motorcycle at Akinyele to carry out the supposed business transaction.

“The duo, upon arrival at an agreed spot picked up Umaru Mohammed ‘m’ and proceeded to Oni-Dundu village in Akinyele area where the ranch was supposedly located and a kidnap syndicate arranged by Umaru Mohammed was waiting in ambush.

“The duo innocently walked into the ambush and were greeted with an open fire where Yusuf Taiwo was kidnapped but his partner, Taofeek Olaide managed to escape.

“Upon receipt of this information, officers from Moniya Division in a collaboration with the Ambush team of the Anti-kidnapping Squad AKS swung into action, swiftly drifting to the scene and tactically combing the area.

“This display of gallantry led to the rescue of the kidnapped Yusuf Taiwo who sustained gunshot injury on the thigh from his abductors, and the arrest of some members of this criminal syndicate.

“It was however regrettably notable that while these criminal elements took to their heels to evade arrest, they stumbled upon some youths from Oni-Dundun village and released gunshots at one Youth leader popularly known as Olori Odo who was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead,” CP Onadeko said.

The Police boss maintained that, Investigation is in top gear to apprehend the remaining members of this criminal syndicate.

Speaking with Journalists, one of the suspects, Umaru Muhammed who mastermind the crime said, I’m a cow rustler, and I’m 16 years old, I was asked to call my customers for cows, and I called Taofeek but on our way to the village we were attacked by my people, though we have planned to kidnap them for ransom but unfurtunately the operation was foiled by some youths of the village, it ended in a shootout and one of the village guy was killed.

“I have not involved in this kind of a crime before, it was my people most of them are currently at large now that called me to call some of my customers to come and buy cows from me and they said we can kidnap them for ransom so we can get money, and they threatened me that if I don’t cooperate they will deal with me and I was forced to do as I was ordered.

“One of my people that we planned the operation together was arrested on the spot and it was his arrest that led to my arrest. Umaru said.
