Oyo Govt Receives Books Donation, Approves List Of Books For New Academic Calendar

As part of the efforts by the present administration aimed at upholding and ensuring quality education in Oyo state ,the Oyo state government has released the year 2020 approved list of books for pre primary ,primary junior, senior secondary schools and technical colleges in Oyo state
The Oyo state commissioner for education science and technology , Barrister olasunkanmi olaleye revealed this at the symbolic presentation of library books donated by university press plc , Ibadan to Oyo state public schools held at the conference room of the ministry of education on Thursday
The commissioner who revealed the approved list of books explained that the move is aimed at ushering in the new academic calendar from September 2020 adding that the present administration prepared the list of books which covers a wide range of subject areas to improve the learning habit of the students as well as enhance their moral and social values.
He explained further that the approved list of books will engage the pre-primary and primary schools for years 2020- 2026, the junior and senior secondary schools as well as the technical colleges for the year 2020-2023 commencing from September 2020
The honorable commissioner also revealed that Oyo state considered appropriate textbooks that will key in into the well structured national curriculum through the engagement of professionals in various fields and subjects so as to ensure and restore the state’s pacesetter status in waec and neco ratings
Barrister olaleye, who revealed how much the covid 19 pandemic affected the curriculum of schools explained that, while the whole country was locked down, the education ministry was busy working on books that would be of great value to the students.
He further urged principals head teachers proprietors and all stakeholders to only use textbooks approved as failure to do so will negate desirous uniformity Of standard
The commissioner however, appreciated the governor, engineer Seyi Makinde for approving the production of the year 2020 approved list of books and also for the unprecedented commitment towards ensuring Oyo state becomes number one in the education sector true to its Pacesetter’s name.
He also thanked University Press Plc for the donations and their contribution towards education development in oyo state, and further assured that the books will be distributed to eight chosen secondary schools across the eight educational zones in the state.
