Honourable Akintunde explained that the former Shooting stars FC players is also helping helping his pet project in grassroots football development in Lagelu which is gradually providing some of the youngsters international exposure.
He noted that the Governor Seyi Makinde led government is also creating the enabling environment for the professional and aspiring athletes as well as footballers especially, to discover their talents and avenues to harness their natural skills via grassroots sports development saying that the newly remodelled Lekan Salami Sports Complex has further motivated all sport lovers and athletes in the state to want to jump in the ring.
“It is a thing of joy and pride seeing that our very own Bolarinwa Obalola who is a thorough bred and homegrown football player is making us very proud on the international scene in far away Japan. His appointment did not come to me as a surprise because he has shown an exceptional interest in grassroots football development right here in Nigeria.
“He has so much passion for the less privileged at the grassroots to reach the peak of their goals which was one of the things that easily endeared him to me and our relationship has come quite a long way because of the passion for grassroots development not just in football but in other areas of life in general.
“If you look at what our own Governor Seyi Makinde is doing here in Oyo state you must agree with me that the future of sports in Oyo is gradually moving global because of the world class sporting facilities being provided by the Governor so add up all these together you will see the reasons for my excitement and what that tells you is that hardwork pays.
“The appointment of Bolarinwa will definitely motivate and inspire our young ones at home to chase their dreams and aim for the peak of their aspirations. We want to produce many more of Bolarinwa in our state and that is why we are collaborating with him even before his new appointment in the development of grassroots football in Lagelu local government.
“I can assure you that as representative of my people, I will continue to search and explore all available opportunities to bring the world to Lagelu local government because we are the ‘baba Ibadan and must be seen to be providing that leadership. I’m really very happy and proud of the new development in Japan and I shall continue to collaborate and partner with relevant stakeholders in the development of grassroots football in Lagelu local government.” Hon. Akintunde said.
