Samuel Egunjobi, chairman of Iganna local council development area may emerge as the running mate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Bayo Adelabu.

Sunrisebulletin.com gathered that at a meeting recently held to determine Adelabu’ running mate, Egunjobi was able to rally the support of all the council bosses from the 10 and 8 local government and LCDA respectively. Though sources revealed that this fit by Egunjobi was partly though to the backing of Mrs Hannah Ogunesan.
Among those who had shown interest in deputising Bayo Adelabu the former deputy governor CBN included commissioner for land, housing and survey, Mr Ajiboye Omodewu, Wale Okediran, Jacob Ogunmola, John Olaleru, and Thomas Olayode.

sources revealed that Ajimobi who recently left for the United Kingdom, had asked Azuzu, as Dauda Wasiu is fondly called, to persuade the Okeogun council chairman to support Ajibola “but they dare not go against Ogunesan’s wish,” a source added.

In the build-up to the APC primaries, Ogunesan, impeccable sources revealed had rallied support for Engr Joseph Tegbe only for Ajimobi to opt for Adelabu at the final minutes. “The development jolted her as that was the first battle she lost after becoming the most powerful political element in the state. Remember she selected more than 70 per cent of the current council chairmen.

“Being a Christian herself, she would have go for the number two position. But they know what they did for the current deputy governor. She had shown her opposition to Adelabu openly during the pre-primaries process,” a government house source told this newspaper.

Egunjobi, was a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly between 2003 and 2007
