Oyo Guber Race: An outsider should not succeed Ajimobi-Omodewu
As we approach the 2019 gubernatorial elections, The Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Survey in Oyo state Hon. Isaac Ajiboye Omodewu,has said that an outsider should not be allowed to succeed Senator Ajimobi, as he decleares his intention to contest the forth coming governorship election in state, he made this known at a meeting held with elected local government chairmen in Ibadan recently state.
The University of New York trained politician while addressing the meeting noted that it is imperative for an insider to succeed Senator Isiaka Ajimobi, urging the people not sell their birthright by conceeding the APC gubernatorial ticket to an out in 2019.
The former commissioner for local government and chieftence matters also reiterated that the All Progressive Congress in Oyo state needs a candidate who will not only sustain the legacy of Senator Isiaka Ajimobi, but also improve on his laudable achievements, he said this can only happen with a person who has been in the system from inception.
The Oke Ogun born politician remarked that he should not be considered based on which part of the state he hails from, but as a citizen of Oyo state who is qualified and competent enough to steer the ship of the state.
” I believe in this generation, let’s not sell our birthright it doesn’t have to be me but not an outsider ” this he said to advise the local governments chairmen present on the imperative for them to work together to ensure an outsider does not get the APC gubernatorial ticket in Oyo state, noting that it will be detrimental to the political future of the chairmen, “if they allow any body to come from anywhere to take what belongs to us “as an outsider already has his people. He described himself as an establishment man who will be very accessible to them when he becomes the Executive governor of the state.
Speaking earlier, Alhaji Dauda Oladjimeji, the state commissioner for Works, in his remark eulogised, Omodewu describing him as one of the few men who understand the system and will be a better successor to governor Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi. He noted further that Omodewu’s decision to run for the highest office in Oyo state is a move in the right direction calling on those present to throw their weight behind him.
Some of the local government chairmen who had worked closely with Omodewu had nothing but praise, to a man who they say keeps his words, Speakers who showered ecomium the guber hopeful included Bashorun Bosun Ajuwon, Hon Lanre Olaosegba, Hon Bamgboye , Hon Taiwo and others who in their various remarks describes Hon. Omodewu’s as a politician with enviable antecedents.
