Oorelope Caretaker Chairman, Adesola Yaqub (Tasoolo) Flags Off Omititun Free Health, Grassroots Sensitization Campaign On COVID-19

The caretaker chairman of Oorelope local government, Hon Adesola Yaqub popularly called Tasoolo has flagged of grassroots sensitization campaign to create awareness on COVID-19 otherwise called coronavirus in order to educate the people on preventive and precautionary measures to contracting the dreaded virus.
Hon Yaqub while speaking with Sunrise Bulletin on Thursday stated that the battle against the highly contagious virus is a collective efforts by all citizens of Nigeria and should not be perceived as governments responsibility alone.
He said that most people living in the city have access to adequate information on updates about the virus and efforts being made by medical experts across the world to develop a cure as it continues to ravage every part of the world adding that the people at the grassroots are slightly disadvantaged in term of access to information compared to those in the city.
The chairman stressed that the need to immediately commence the grassroots sensitization campaign was necessitated by the urgent need to bring rural dwellers up to speed with regards to the virus and how to stay safe.
Tasoolo as he is popularly called noted that the campaign will be an intermittent exercise throughout Oorelope local government until the world finds cure to COVID-19.
He urged all residents of Oyo state particularly those visiting or transiting Oorelope local government to other parts of the state and Nigeria to ensure global standard practice of social distancing at public gathering, regular hand washing with soap and water or having handy alcohol based hand sanitizer, stressing that nobody is immune against coronavirus and people should adhere strictly to all instructions and directives as against trivializing the virus or giving it religious coloration.
Hon Yaqub lauded the proactive approach taken by the Oyo state government under the leadership of governor Seyi Makinde stressing that the level of preparedness by the state government in terms of action plan, policy direction, and provision of health facilities across the state in case of any unforseen eventuality give the people confidence and assurance of a disease free Oyo state amidst fear and panic in the country since it was first reported in Lagos state.
Others at the flag off campaign are top officials of the local government, health technicians at the local government, medical practitioners, and community leaders of various communities under Oorelope local government.
