Observe Necessary Precautions To Guard Against Fire Outbreaks: Oyo Deputy Governor Admonishes Residents.
Deputy governor of Oyo state Engr. Raufu Olaniyan has urged residents of the state observe necessary measures to guard against fire outbreak, particularly in this season.
Olaniyan gave this admonision yesterday at an event organised by the Oyo State Government in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, to distribute relief materials to victims of the last rainstorm disaster in Asabari Local Council Development Area LCDA.
While distributing the relief materials at Kinnikinni Open Field, Saki Area of the State, the Deputy Governor, disclosed that the little succor was to almileorate suffering of the victims saying no amount of gift can commensurate with the loss they have suffered.
He added that the present administration in the state has put in place measures to sensitize members of the public on the need to prevent fire disaster, which has become rampant.
While pledging the committment of the present administration in the state to rule with the fear of God, he appealed to the members of the public to adhere strictly to the environmental sanitation laws and regulations so as to avoid environmental hazard adding that natural disasters may be unavoidable, he however maintained that if we take necessary precautions man induced disasters will be eliminated.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Caretaker Chairman, Asabari LCDA, Engr. Sarafadeen Omirinde, commended Governor Seyi Makinde for been a people’s governor, who has the interest of the citizen at heart by providing succor to the masses.
According to him,” today’s event is a welcome development, it goes along way to show that Governor Makinde’s led administration is a humane and Masses friendly government”.
He therefore enjoined the participants to make judicious use of the materials.
In his remarks, the Southwest Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency NEMA Mr. Slaku Luguard, commended the State Government for creating synergy between the NEMA and SEMA as well providing favourable environment for the agency’s operation.
He pledged his support and cooperation with the State Emergency Management Agency ensure succor to people of the state.
The relief materials distributed were Bags of Cement, Bags of Rice, Bags of Garri, roofing sheets, Nails as well as Palm oil, Mattress, Nails, treated mosque nets, Blankets and Vegetable oil.
