The former caretaker chairman of Ibadan Northwest local government has said that the incumbent house of representatives member representing Ibadan Southwest and Ibadan Northwest federal constituency Hon. Saheed Fijabi and others who may be seeking for the right to represent his constituency are no threat to his ambition, as he is a master strategist, when it comes to grassroot mobilisation.
Olatunbosun who had an exclusive chat with Sunrisebulletin.com recently in Ibadan, confirmed his interest to contest the coming elections to the federal house of representatives in the coming elections.
Olatunbosun who holds a Phd in mass communication noted that he has the experience and the necessary requirements needed to provide adequate representation to the people of the Ibadan Southwest and Northwest federal constituency, observing that he will pursue people driven programs and demand driven approach to representation, a strategy which he said worked well for him as a council boss. He also reiterated that he led the 2011 and 2015 campaigns of Senator Abiola Ajimobi the executive governor of Oyo state, as Secretary and chairman contact and mobilisation committee, stressing that the experien experienced he has garnered from handling these positions has prepared him for the challenge ahead.
On his chances of emerging as the candidate for the Africa Democratic congress, a party he recently joined from the All Progressive Congress, particularly with the former state governor Senator Rashidi Ladoja joining the same party, Olatunbosun who many described as an astute politician asserted that he had nothing to worry about ” As long as internal democracy is allowed to take place, by the special grace of God, No problem” he remarked that most of the people who came with Ladoja are his people ” Almost all of them” he said.
On whether ADC will have a good showing in the coming elections Olatunbosun remarked with an emphatic yes, he however gave a caveat, he said ” Provided we handle our party primaries very well”
On the possibility of the ADC conducting a rancour free congresses within the short period of time it has, considering the various interest that has converge in the party, Olatunbosun stressed that it depends on the sincerity of the stakeholders and the interim committee.
On his take on the likelihood of ADC adopting to harmonise the party executives among the groups, the Ibadan born politician said he ” if it is based on the strength of each group no problem, but I will be strongly against equal sharing of positions” when asked why, he noted that ” A group with a Senator, five house of representatives and six house of assembly members, with over 100,000 members can not share equally with a group that did not bring anything to the sharing table, or better still let each group test their strength on the field”.
