Makinde’s Aid, Femi Josiah Urges Buhari To Sack Malami Over Role In Oyo LG Tussle, Commends Governor

The Special Assistant to the Governor of Oyo state on Community Relations, Honourable Olufemi Josiah, has called on President Mohammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency relieve the Attorney–General of the Federation (AGF), Justice Abubakar Malami SAN of his duty following his involvement in the face off between Oyo state government and the sacked Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) chairmen.
Hon Josiah, who is a former Oyo state house of assembly lawmaker and an ex Executive Chairman of Ibadan North West Local Government, explained that it was the purported letter written by Malami earlier in the year to all state governors where local councils were dissolved emboldened the sacked ALGON to continue in the face off with the state government.
Hon Josiah, made this assertions while speaking exclusively with Sunrisebulletin.com in his office at the State Secretariat in Ibadan on Tuesday, stressing that the entire legal battle was a calculated move by the opposition to destabilize the present government.
He said: “Of you listened to on of my previous interviews in the past, you will realize that I have said repeatedly that the outgone ALGON chairmen only wanted to use instrument of the law to steal a mandate from the people of Oyo state through the letter that Malami wrote to them the other day.
” But from judgement of the court of Appeal, the interpretation is that means that the outgone ALGON was only speculative and that the Oyo state case is distinguishable from the Ekiti state case so, the appeal by Oyo state government succeeded.
“What that means is that what Malami did by giving a blanket approval to states that were dissolved by the governor rather than looking at each states’ cases on its merit was wrong.
“If you look at Oyo state for example, somebody was killed at Ogbomoso because some people felt they were on side of the law, can anyone return the life of the person that was killed? so if you look at the damages the Attorneys-general of the federation is creating for Nigeria, I think it is high time President Buhari sack him.
“Because it appears as if he is not versatile with matters of law or rather, he is not loyal to the country because an Attorney-general is meant to be fair at all times and if you look at the damages, the cost of the action of the outgone chairmen ALGON to the people of Oyo state, can you reverse them?
“They collected salaries that were never under meant for them, they spent monies which under the law, have no right to spend, I am even surprised that the court did not sanction them further, maybe we have to demand that they return all local government resources in their custodies back to each local government Secretariat.”
Meanwhile, Hon Josiah has described governor Makinde as an exceptional leader with a very large heart who is readily willing to advance the course of Oyo state even at personal cost, as well as improving the quality of living of the people at all times.
