Makinde’s 100 Days In Office: Governor Makinde A Silent Achiever, To Commission Six Model Schools – SUBEB Chairman, Dr Adeniran

The executive chairman of Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Nureni Adeniran, who was a former local government council chairman in Ibadan south west local government and former commissioner for education in Oyo state has described governor Makinde as a silent achiever who is worthy of emulation regardless of political affiliations.

The SUBEB boss made this statement while having a chat with Sunrise Bulletin news correspondent in his office yesterday in Ibadan.

He described governor Makinde’s success story in government as a product of the governor’s “will” to reposition Oyo state to its pace setters status and his desire to alleviate the masses out of poverty level in the state.

Dr Adeniran attributed the success story of his board to the governor’s passion for sound, quality, and compulsary basic education for all which saw for the first time a commitment of 10% (ten percent) of the total budget of Oyo state earmarked for education only, noting that it is very unprecedented as no government in the history of Oyo state has been able to attain this feat.

He however affirmed that in the midst of the governor’s commitments to the education sector there are still few surmountable challenges part of which are delapitated learning facilities, mounting number of out of school children which we are alreading handling comfortably well, and adequate monitoring mechanism across all the zones in Oyo state.”

He said “My experience as the chairman of this board you will agree with me is not strange being an educationist in the system and having served as a honourable commissioner for education in the state some ten years ago, i can tell you from my experience with all the governments i have worked with that governor Makinde is a unique man who is always committed to his promises.” “During his electioneering campaign he promised not just free education but sound and quality education for all and within his first 100 days in office he is already making his campaign promises a reality without excuses even in the face of the economic realities, that is what i call “the will power to deliver by a leader.”

“Governor Makinde did not only abolish payment of 3,000 naira school fees but he has also  gone ahead to make obtaining of entrance registration forms into all public schools at both primary and secondary levels free of charge, within the last three months of assuning office, we have also been able to complet six fully furnished model schools in Oyo state which are ready for commissioning by His excellency governor Seyi Makinde in commemoration of his first 100 days in office, just to show the people that we are here for serious business and genuine rebuilding of Oyo state from the shambles the last administration left it off, although government is continum but governor Makinde has set a standard to which no successive government can compromise in term of education, the last 100 days has been very tasky and it is my sincere believe that in few years from now all sons and daughters of Oyo state origin will be very proud of Oyo state as the state of their dream.”
