The power tussle between the sacked ALGON chairmen and the present caretaker chairmen in Oyo state has been abated and normalcy has been restored to Oluyole local government area, Sunrise Bulletin learnt.
Oluyole caretaker chairman, Hon. Olaide Popoola Settle, in a press briefing in his office at the council secretariat in Oluyole local government on Monday stated that normalcy has fully been restored to the local government.
He said that the avoidable tension created by an attempt of a forceful take over of the council secretariat has been nipped in the bud and necessary legal action has been taken to ensure that all those involved in the dastardly act were brought to book.
Hon. Popoola highlighted some of his first primary agenda to include renovation of identified dilapidated schools, repositioning of primary healthcare centers, creation of modern markets to drive sales of agricultural produce, and many others which he said would unfold in phases.
He said “It is no longer news that last week, one of the sacked ALGON chairmen, Mr. Adeniyi Abass Aleshinloye came with his team to forceful break into the office but to the glory of God, first thing we did was to come around to take on the spot assessment of the facilities they vandalized while trying to forcefully gain entrance into the council secretariat and some of our keys and doors were damaged as I speak with you we have taken necessary steps to communicate with the appropriate quarters because a petition has been submitted to that effect.
“We had a meeting with our governor and he told us to be civil in our approach and thread softly with them which was why we tolerated all their excesses and stayed back at home to avoid aggravation of the situation.
“What you’re seeing here today is restoration of normalcy to our local government as you can see our people, market women, traders, farmers, artisans, traditional rulers and leaders as well the PDP family in a joyous mood.
“Our primary agenda is to renovate some of the already identified dilapidated schools for conducive environment for learning, we want to build Omi Titun Fruits Market with modern facilities in order to properly integrate people in the informal sector into the formal sector for the purpose of adequate economic planning at the local level.
“We will also pay good attention to repositioning of our primary healthcare centers especially in the areas of equipment and healthcare professionals because reports at our disposal indicated acute shortage of skilled manpower and we will quickly address that.”
The Oyo state PDP publicity secretary, Engr Akeem Olatunji, who was in company of the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, at the local government secretariat, stated that governor Makinde is an epitome of peace adding that the tension created by the sacked chairmen led by its chairman, Mr. Abass Aleshinloye was avoidable if they were not desperate to get access to local government funds.
He charged the caretaker chairman, Hon. Olaide Popoola Settle to adopt the all inclusive leadership style of governor Makinde in order fast track sustainable development to the local government.
“Our governor and leader, governor Seyi Makinde has already redefined leadership in Oyo state and Nigeria at large which is daily endearing our great party to all including those who had despised PDP in time past” he said.
