The Katsina State Government has received Personal and Protective Equipment (PPE) worth millions of Naira to help in the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Some of the items include 1,000 aprons, 100 beddings, 100 beds, 100 bedside locker, 100 mattresses, 100 pillows, among others.
The items were donated by the Nigerian Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID).
Receiving the items today at the IDP isloation centre in Katsina, the state deputy governor, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, appreciated the gesture made by the donor.
Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Kabir Mustapha, said the state’s health sector has faced challenges due to number of patients with the disease.
He, however, said the state government has been able to manage the problem within its limited resources and assistance from non- governmental organisations.
The deputy governor assured that the state government is doing what was possible in the fight against the disease across the state.
He called on other non- governmental organisations to also contribute their own quota to assist those living with the disease in the state.
He prayed to Allah for a speedy end to the pandemic, and for peace and prosperity to reign across the state.
Responding, the representative of CACOVID, Bello Mohammed said items donated are meant to help in the treatment of confirmed and suspected patients in the state.
Mohammed, who is also branch manager of UBA in the state, commended the effort of the state government in the fight against the pandemic.
