Impeachment Rumor: Ayo Fatokun Dismisses Fake Story, Says Speaker Enjoys Maximum Support Of Colleagues
The Chairman, Oyo State House of Assembly Parliamentary Council, Ayotunde Fatokun, has dismissed rumours making the round that the House was planning to impeach the speaker, Rt. Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin, describing the rumours as baseless, unfounded and unwarranted.
Honourable Fatokun, who represents Akinyele Constituency 1, said he was not perturbed by such report, since it emanated from the quarters of political jobbers who are yet to recover from the shock of their unceremonious defeat at the 2019 general elections in the state.
In a statement issued through his media office and personally signed by the lawmaker on Thursday in Ibadan, Fatokun commended the 9th Assembly with the manner the Speaker, Principal Officers, and members of the House have conducted themselves since their inauguration.
He added that the Speaker enjoys the full support of his colleagues. He affirmed that the speaker is not under any threat of impeachment whatsoever.
Ayo Fatokun however, urged members of the public to discard such malicious insinuations concocted by enemies of the state and charged residents to cooperate with Governor Seyi Makinde in its efforts to curb spread of the dreaded COVID-19 otherwise known as Coronavirus in the state.
He said, all members of the House owe it a duty to sensitise their constituents on the need to adhere strictly to the precautionary measures stipulated by the state government Taskforce which include, regular hand wash with soap and clean water, maintaining five metre social distancing among others.
