Ibadan To Host 56th International Conference Of Nigerian Mining And Geoscientists Society, Makinde Promises Maximum Support

Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, has been selected to host the 56th international conference of Nigerian Mining And Geosciences Society tagged “Ibadan 2020”.

This was made known during a courtesy call on governor Seyi Makinde on Friday at the executive chamber of the governor’s office, Oyo State secretariat, Ibadan.

The national president of the society, Professor Simon Nkom, in company of the executive chairman of Oyo State mineral resources development agency, Mr Abiodun Oni, who led a top delegation of members of the society to the governor’s office in his address, lauded the success story of governor Mankind’s administration which cuts across the entire country particularly the giant strides taken towards development and repositioning of the mining sector through the mineral resources development agency in the state.

Prof Nkom stated that the society plays key advisory roles to governments and academics in terms of policy design, formulation, and implementation and will be ready to give the present administration full support in that regard adding that Oyo state is truly the pacesetter following the array of professionals and experts in governor Mankind’s cabinet and the achievements so far.

Governor Seyi Makinde in his remark thanked the society for their visit particularly their foresight to select Ibadan as the host city for the coming international conference of the society.

He added that the conference will create a good platform for investment interaction as well as expose the state to world in terms of its mineral deposits thereby, making the state an investment hub in Nigeria.

Governor Makinde stated further that the attention given to the mineral development sector was strategic and it was born out of the plan to revive and develop the state economy.

Governor Makinde said that the implemented agenda which rest on four pillars which include education, health, infrastructures, security and economy, are product of a well designed blueprint.

He assured that Oyo State is very safe and will continue to provide a secured and safe environment for investment gathering in the state, Promising to always be available for future engagements that will promote a viable economy.

Governor Makinde was however decorated by the society for his outstanding achievements in the state.
