Hoodlums Attack On Amuludun Radio A Reprisal On Soludero Vigilante Group Not Media House – Oyo Police Command Reacts

The Oyo State Police Command has said that the Saturday attack on the facility and properties of Amuludun FM radio in Ibadan was a reprisal attack by hoodlums around Sasa area of Ojoo in Akinyele Local Government, Oyo State.
Sunrisebulletin learnt as widely reported in the news that hoodlums broke into the facility of Amuludun FM radio station located along Moniya road in Ibadan on Saturday and vandalizing parts of the building facilities and vehicles within the premises belonging to the radio station officials.
The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Ngozi Onadeko, in a signed press statement on Sunday August 1 by the State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso and made available to Sunrisebulletin.com revealed details of police preliminary investigations.
According to the Police statement, there was a face-off between members of the Soludero Vigilante group and some criminal elements around Sasa area at Ojoo while the vigilante group were on routine patrol around 0400Hrs of the day.
One Kabati, a male member of the criminal gang sustained gunshot injuries. He was however, rushed to the hospital but was later confirmed dead at the hospital.
In retaliation, the hoodlums according to the police investigations mobilized themselves and stormed Amuludun FM radio station which the hoodlums presumed was Soludero Vigilante group office to launch a reprisal attack.
“Sequel to the face-off between members of Soludero, a local vigilante group and some criminal elements around Sasa Area, Ojo, Akinyele LGA of Oyo State while on routine patrol, yesterday Saturday 31st July 2021, at about 0400HRS during which one Kabati ‘m’, a member of the criminal gang sustained gunshot injuries and was confirmed dead at the hospital.
“Consequent upon this, the hoodlums in their numbers stormed the Soludero presumed office, located at the premises of the Federal Radio Coporation of Nigeria, Amuludun 99.1 FM, Moniya Ibadan in a bid to launch a reprisal attack.
“Preliminary investigation gathered from an on the spot assessment shows that, upon the arrival of the Hoodlums, they became agitated as none of their targets was on sight.
“Consequently, windscreens/glasses of four (4) vehicles parked in the premises were broken along with the glass door at the entrance of the Media outfit, inferring that the attack was not targeted directly at the media outfit but members of the vigilante group.
“While assuring all and sundry that the perpetrators of this dastardly act would be made to face justice, the Commisioner of Police, Oyo state Command, Cp Ngozi Onadeko Fdc , wishes to state that it is important to immediately report such occurrences as the above to the Police for immediate intervention.
“Meanwhile investigations are ongoing and developments would be communicated accordingly,” the police statement concludes.
The Commissioner of Police however, call on residents in the area to remain calm as investigations are in top gear to apprehend the culprits and bring them to face the law.
