Group Accuse Oyo APC Of Planning To Rig Coming Elections

The Development Front (DF), an Oyo State based sociopolitical organisation, interested in the advancement of democracy, and committed to ensuring free, fair and credible polls, has alerted the general public to the dangers posed to free, fair and credible polls by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, and the need for all hands to be on deck, to avert this looming electoral fraud, already cooked by these agents of darkness.

This is according to a media release signed by Foluso Fafunwa Director Publicity Development Front, made available to

The statement noted “To begin with, we like to inform every Oyo State voter, that we have credible intelligence on a meeting allegedly held between Governor Abiola Ajimobi, and several electoral officers on Tuesday night, in Government House, wherein rigging strategies were perfected, and 25 of them handed a princely sum of $5,000 each, to help him, and his party compromise the coming elections.”

As a follow up to that, we also have it on good record, that a party stalwart same Tuesday, held similar meetings with members of staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), wherein the plans were further cemented.

As a civil society group, we’re worried that the Oyo APC and its chieftains are hell bent on subverting democracy, and bending the wheels of democracy, in support of its evil machinations.

We, therefore, call on all lovers of democracy to prevail on Governor Ajimobi and his cohorts, not to see the coming elections as a do or die affair, hence, should be advised to desist from overt and covert acts, aimed at derailing peaceful polls.

Security agencies are admonished to investigate these claims, and bring the guilty to justice.

They are also notified to be on their toes, to ensure agents of darkness do not circumvent Nigeria’s hard earned democracy.

We further enjoin INEC to purge itself of fifth columnists, bent on truncating it’s good plans, if any.

Saturday, 16 February, 2019, and Saturday, 2 March, 2019, are sacrosanct electoral days, wherein the people’s will must truly prevail, anything short of it is evil, and is unacceptable.”
