The Chairman, Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alh Kunmi Mustapha, has described the reactions of Oyo State APC to the voluntary assets declaration by Governor Seyi Makinde at the Oyo state office of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), as wreckless, unpatriotic, uncharitable, and a “notice me” approach to discourage men of goodwill from participating in politics, especially the young, vibrant and progressive mind such governor Makinde.
In a statement made available to newsmen at the party secretariat, Molete, Ibadan, on Thursday by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Engr Akeem Olatunji, the party Chairman, Alh Kunmi Mustapha, frowned at the level of hypocrisy and psychophancy entrenched in the nature of APC Chairman in Oyo State.
He said “he (Chief Akin Oke) was expected to ask questions from his party’s candidate in the last election, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, on how he sourced for several billions of Naira he spent lavishly on gubernatorial campaign as well as hundreds of vehicles he purchased to move political thugs around.”
According to Alh Mustapha “if a government worker like Adelabu could spend lavishly without blinking an eye throughout the election and EFCC is looking the other way, then how much more a businessman with chains of businesses in about four different continents of the World.”
“Arithemetically speaking, a man who pays N1.5 billion in tax should be in a position to have more than N48 billion declared because here’s a man who believe private business owners must pay tax in full compliance to government tax policy to enable government effective and efficient administration of the state.”
“Makon Group for example, is an indigenous oil and gas servicing company ranked as first in Africa with its Automation and Control Scope.”
“According to available information, Makon Group, a company owned by Governor Seyi Makinde built Utorogu NAG 2 Plant, a 150 MMSCfd plant which increased the capacity of the Utorogu gas hub from 360 MMscfd to circa 510MMscfd that addressed the supply shortfalls in the Escravos Lagos Pipeline System and West African Gas Pipeline (ELPS/WAGP) market.
The project can generate up to 600MW of electricity which is around 17% of Nigeria national generation capacity for electricity.
That GSM declared his assets in his usual nature of compliance to the rule of law, is something very commendable and worthy of emulation by all governors with clean cupboards. What the governor has done is simple!” He has just set the pace for all other governors to follow by also declaring their assets and making same public.” He visibly disappointed chairman stated further,
“If United States of America could be so proud of Bill Gate with his wealth and contributions to humanity, then Nigerians and most especially Oyo State citizens should be very proud of governor Makinde who has selflessly offered himself to serve Oyo state.
He therefore adviced APC in Oyo state to be more focused in rebuilding its battered party. He said “2019 election is a landmark election that will go down in history of Oyo state because, no governorship electoral victory has been this resounding, it was a unanimous voice from the good people of Oyo state in total rejection of tyranny and oppression in the state.
