EXCLUSIVE: Makinde Sets New Record In Edu As Oyo Conducts First Entrance CBT Exam Into State School Of Sciences

The Seyi Makinde-led Government of Oyo state has set a new record in standard and delivery of qualitative and accessible education in Oyo state as the state conducts it’s first ever entrance examination into the state School of Sciences deploying the technology of Computer Based Test (CBT).

This development, according to the immediate past Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, who spoke exclusively with Sunrisebulletin.com when he was contacted by on Saturday “was Governor Makinde’s initiative as a strategic way of sustaining and improving on the educational standard in the face of COVID-19 pandemic especially as the disease has continued to advance in phases of waves.”

Many stakeholders in the education sector of the state have also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for taking education in Oyo to the next level through his delibrate commitment and investment in the sector describing the development as a right step in the right direction.

The CBT examination which held on Saturday 24th of July at various designated CBT centres across the state was conducted for about 4,893 candidates who are seeking admission into the state Unity schools.

However, in a related development, the year 2021 placement / screening exercise into public Junior Secondary Schools in the State also held at various screening centres across the State.

170,640 candidates sat for this year’s entrance exam into public Junior Secondary Schools for the next academic session.

In ensuring a hitch-free exercise, the management and monitoring team of the Ministry of education led by the Permanent Secretary (PS) Mrs. Aminat Atere went round some examination centres in Ibadan metropolis while other top ministry officials represented the PS to monitor the conduct of this year’s annual event in all the local government areas across the State.

While speaking with journalists shortly after the monitoring exercise at the School of Science, Igboelerin, Ibadan, Mrs. Atere expressed her satisfaction over the conduct of the CBT entrance examination thanking Governor Makinde for his unflinching commitment and support for qualitative education in the State.

She charged the students to make good use of the unique opportunity given by the governor for a better future while assuring that the ministry will continue to work in alliance with the brilliant initiatives of Governor Seyi Makinde in order to reinstate Oyo into its envious pacesetter’s status in Nigeria.

Speaking with Sunrisebulletin on Saturday over the phone when contacted, Barrister Olaleye expressed his joy over the rate and pace of development in the education sector under the Seyi Makinde-led Government noting that the Governor’s commitment to building future leaders in today’s students who can compete at the global level was immeasurable.

The lawyer cum politician however, urged stakeholders in the education sector including players in both public and private institutions to continue to support the present administration in its resolve to build future leaders using highly qualitative and accessible education as a tool to achieve that.
