Eid-el Kabir: Oyo Assembly PDP Whip, Honourable Akintunde, Felicitate With Muslims, Calls For Strict COVID-19 Compliance

The lawmaker representing Lagelu state constituency at the Oyo state house of assembly, Honourable Olajide Akintunde who is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Whip, felicitates with Muslim Umar on the occasion of Eid-el Kabir celebration and called for strict compliance with COVID-19 protocols and guidelines across the state.
Hon Akintunde made this call in a statement he personally signed and made available to Sunrisebulletin.com in Ibadan on Wednesday, stressing that people must be ready to take full responsibility for their actions and inactions.
The lawmaker who also doubles as the chairman, house committee on commerce and cooperatives stressed the need to reach out to less privileged ones during this period adding that there will be no fun in celebrating when a neighbor next door has nothing to provide for his family.
He explained that religious leaders must be more united in prayers as they are seen as spiritual heads with more commitment and dedication to the work of God noting that even though the world is currently in search of solution to corona virus disease, prayers are capable of accelerating human efforts to getting results.
AKT as he is fondly called noted that the Eid-el Kabir celebration is another opportunity to not only celebrate but reflect on the essence of life and service to humanity especially in a period of global pandemic.
He explained that the celebration is for all regardless of religious inclinations noting that year 2020 has been a very turbulent year for everyone in the state and country at large but affirmed that the African spirit of resilience and dexterity in the face of challenges will keep the state stronger together even as the battle against the dreaded disease rages on.
He however urged residents to celebrate within the limit of their finances stressing that the economic situation across the globe has called for a more strategic approach to spending.
He said that no sphere of the economy or human life is spared from effects of COVID-19 but expressed optimism in the will power of the Oyo state government under the leadership of Engr Seyi Makinde to surmount the unpleasant economic realities through his scientific and courageous approach to solving problems.
