COVID-19: Oyo State Teachers Go Spiritual Over Makinde’s Health

Oyo State Teachers Congress has called on all of its members in the state across all faiths to as a matter of urgency embark on a one day fasting and prayer for the executive governor of the state, Engr Seyi Makinde whom they described as ‘lover of the masses and redeemer of the oppressed’ over his test result on COVID-19 otherwise called coronavirus.

The Coordinator of Oyo state Teachers Congress, Rev Bunmi Thomas in a broadcast message stated that the entire teachers in Oyo state both serving and retired are expected to fully participate in the intercessory prayer which is tagged ‘OYO TEACHERS PRAY’.

Rev Thomas noted that the intercessory prayer session will commence by 12am on Wednesday by midnight and is expected to last till 1st of April by 6:30am when the session would have been brought to a close.

He stressed that the prayer session is not faith based as every member of the body is expected to call on God however they know how to for the speedy recovery of the governor whom they affirmed has made teaching job a noble profession that is now enviable in the state.

His broadcast message reads in part: “This is to direct all teachers in the state with allegiance to the Teachers Congress to embark on a One day prayer and fasting by tomorrow WED. April 1, 2020.

“Every teacher serving or retired is hereby called upon to join this prayer session CALLING FOR GOD’S MERCY AND HEALING UPON ENGR SEYI MAKINDE AND THAT GOD SHOULD PROTECT EVERY ONE OF US, HEAL OUR LAND OYO STATE, HEAL THE WORLD AND BRING CORONA VIRUS TO AN END.

“On the occasion of this One Day Prayer and Fasting, be it Muslim, Christian, or traditional worshippers, we are enjoined to call on God in the way He listens.”

He said that the governor has been very consistent in his electoral campaign promises to the workers in the state and therefore, needs maximum support and prayers of every resident of the state regardless of religion or political inclinations.

Rev Thomas however expressed optimism in the full recovery of governor Makinde from the dreaded virus which is ravaging every part of the world threatening the very existence of mankind.

He assured that the body under the auspices of Oyo State Teachers Congress will continue to rally support for the governor during and after this challenging time.
