A member of the house of representatives Hon Akinnade Fijabi has said that federal constituencies will benefit more when their representative are given opportunity to represent them for an extended period of terms rather than one of two terms that is prevalent.
The lawmaker representing Ibadan south west and Ibadan North West federal constituency said this recently on a live radio programme monitored in Ibadan.
Emphasizing on his assertion, the two term house of representatives member noted that it is usually difficult for first ‘TERMERS’ to find their bearing in the green chamber, and this usually has a negative impact on the consituency they represent.
Speaking further, the lawmaker who is the son of a prominent chief of Ibadanland, observed that there is a lot to achieve when members of legislators are allowed more time in the national assembly as obtained in developed countries. He said he has achieved more in his second term for his consituency, than he did in his first term.
Fijabi who is the house chairman on Telecommunication said there is seniority in the house of Assembly and new comers usually find it difficult to fit in he concludes.
With the purchase of his nomination form, it is certain Hon. Fijabi will be seeking the support of electorates in Ibadan south west and northwest federal constituency once again to represent them for the third time as 2019 elections draw near.
