The Oyo State Executive Council has appealed to the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) to allow students to go back to school and discontinue the disruption of the academic calendar any further. Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has approved the declaration of a 16-hour curfew in 10 local government areas of the state. According to a memo issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, the curfew takes effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026. The curfew, which is between 4PM and 8 AM, and lasts for 48 hours in the first instance, affects local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park. The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register a new political party called the Citizens Democratic Alliance (CDA) and hand over their certificate.
