The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it is considering the first week of February for the conduct of re-run and by-elections arising from the 2023 general elections. Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, INEC chairman said this at an extraordinary consultative meeting with political parties in Abuja on Monday. At least 61 migrants, including women and children, have drowned following a shipwreck off Libya. The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said the boat had set off from the Libyan city of Zwara with about 86 people on board.
