Ekiti State emerged as the most expensive place to live in Nigeria in August 2025, making history as the first South-Western state to top the inflation rankings since the rebasing of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in January. The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) have issued a 7-day ultimatum to the Federal Government, warning of an imminent shutdown of public universities beginning September 22 if their demands remain unaddressed. A UK medical tribunal has heard that doctor Suhail Anjum left a patient under anaesthetic to have sex with a nurse in another room at Tameside Hospital, Greater Manchester. Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reacted to the ordeals of Oba Joseph Oloyede, Apetu of Ipetumodu town, who is serving a jail term in the United States of America over fraud.
