Attempt To Ridicule My Reputation Using NURTW ill-Conceived, Malicious And Laughable – AKT
By Henry Odeh
The lawmaker representing Lagelu state constituency at the 9th Oyo house of assembly, Honourable Olajide Akintunde popularly called AKT has described the allegation of his involvement with members of the disbanded road transport workers as ill-conceived, unfounded, mischievous, malicious, and a figment of imagination of the author of the story noting that NURTW as a union remains disbanded and can neither operate in the state nor carry out any function until the executive governor decides to lift the ban.
AKT as he is fondly called made this statement yesterday while having a chat with Sunrise Bulletin news correspondent in his office at the house of assembly complex, Ibadan.
Recall that a story surfaced through an online medium penultimate week about the lawmaker using members of the disbanded road union workers (NURTW) to harrass members of the public but the author of the story according to the soft spoken but vibrant lawmaker, was said to be exposing his or her ignorance of how things work with government. “The union is banned and they remain banned until the governor decides otherwise, so where would any member of the union derive the right to even operate in the first place?” he queried.
He said that he and his other colleagues in the legislative chamber are very busy with the herculean task of helping governor Makinde achieve his strategic economic plans aimed at reviving the state.
He said that his commitment to his constituency in term of fulfilling his campaign promises is unwavering, part of which was his electrification of offa community in ward 4 and a community market in ward 5. He noted that although the primary assignment of a lawmaker is to make laws in the legislative chamber but the current economic reality has compelled many lawmakers to expend personal resources on poverty alleviation programs and financial empowerment schemes. He further stated that the relationship between the legislative arm and the executive arm is robust and cordial as seen so far in how the house has been expediting its activities.
He said “my mandate is to represent the very good and industrious people of Lagelu state constituency and to attract physical development to my area so to even talk about a union that is still banned by the executive governor of the state to be involved with me or anybody else is an arberation, i am telling you right now that there is absolute no iota of truth in the story because everyone who has had an encounter with me knows that the picture of me they try to paint in the news has no semblance with my personality because i can never and will never harrass anyone because of God’s prililege upon me.”
The lawmaker however, assures that he will continue to give his people at Lagelu local government an effective and efficient representation at the house of assembly such that will attract physical development that will improve on the quality of life of the people.
