Association of Grassroot Women Dwellers of Nigeria Holds 8th Day Fidau Prayer For Senator Buruji Kashamu’s Mother In Ibadan

Following the passing of the mother of Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in Ogun state in the 2019 general election, Senator Buruji Kashamu, a foremost women mobilization and empowerment body under the aeges of Association of Grassroot Women Dwellers of Nigeria to which Senator Kashamu is the grand patron has held an 8th day fidau prayer for the senator’s mother today in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

 

The prayer which held at the association’s head office in Gate area of Ibadan has muslim clerics and a large crowd of people mostly women in attendance from  different parts of Oyo state, who trooped all out to join in the prayer session for the late Alhaja Wulemat Ebunoluwa Kashamu who was described by many of the participating women that were privileged to have an encounter with her at different times during her lifetime, as homely, loving, accommodating, and friendly to all.

 

The National president of the association, Alhaja Fatimah Salau popularly known as Iya oyo explained that the association was founded in year 2001 with the primary aim of mobilizing, trainging, and empowerment of women in the society but was issued certificate of registration as an association by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in 2013. She explained that women under any circumstance in the society are always at the receiving ends stressing that the situation has led many promising women including divorced, widows, and single mothers to venture into one form of societal vice or the other. According to her, it was therefore, in her personal resolve to see a perpetual end to the unpleasant situation that led her and other women with similar conviction to establish the association in 2001 as an unbrella body that mobilizes, trains, and empowers women to be self reliant towards financial independence so as to become better and productive members of the society.

 

Alhaja Fatimah however showers praises and commendations on senator Buruji Kashamu as a Nigerian with an exceptional love for human capacity development, noting that senator Kashamu as the grand patron of the association has continued to play the fatherly role to the association at all times in term of counsels, advices, and financial supports.

 

She stated further that the association apart from personal contributions from members relies on donations and financial spports from financially successful Nigerians so as to create a balance in the society since the woman is adjourdged the economic engine of the society. The national president said that the association is present in all 36 states of the federation with the national vice president from the north and national secretary from south east.

 

She stated that the association mobilize and train women in beed making, hair dressing, beautification, fashion design, and trading after which they are empowered with little start up capital. She however, promised that the graduation of the next batch of trainees will come up in less than two months time.
