ARMED FORCE REMEMBRANCE DAY: Oyo Govt Donates N3Million To Families Of Falling Heroes

The Oyo state government has donated the sum of N3million (Three million naira) to the families of Nigerian armed force fallen heroes of wars in the course of their duty to the nation.
The executive governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde represented by the deputy governor of Oyo state, Engr Rauf Olaniyan while delivering his speech stated that the families of all falling heroes both living and dead deserve collective supports of all Nigerians in order to help the families enjoy the fullness of life without missing the absence of their maimed fallen spouses.
The governor’s speech reads in part “It is noteworthy that collective efforts should be made to consciously care for the needs of the maimed soldiers, widows and their children and other dependants of the fallen heroes.
“The weeklong remembrance activities include among others; the Launching of Emblem Appeal Week, Special prayers in churches and mosques, honouring of veterans, empowerment of widows and people with disabilities which will culminate in the grand finale and wreath laying ceremony.
“In recent times, when global peace and security have been under constant threat, and peace keeping operations are ongoing involving combined military forces of the world, Nigeria being a prominent member of the global body gas contributed in many of these peace keeping missions within and beyond of Africa. “However, it is on record that many of our soldiers lost their lives leaving a lot of responsibilities for their unprepared families.”
Former military administrator of Lagos and Ogun states, Brig. General Raji Rasaki (Rtd) who donated the sum of N450,000 (four hundred and fifty thousand naira) noted that it was important to donate in support of the affected families in order to support efforts of the state government to give them economic stability.
Other top government functionaries at the event include the Chief of Staff to the governor, Chief Bisi Ilaka, Speaker of the Oyo State House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin represented by the deputy speaker, Hon. Abiodun Fadeyi, and some members of the Oyo state assembly, honorable commissioners, Special advisers and executive assistants to the governor of Oyo state.
