The executive governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde has on the occasion of the state government annual inter-religious thanksgiving commiserated with victims of the Akesan fire inferno which occurred in Oyo town at the twilight of year 2020 and has taken full responsibility for the inferno with a promise to rebuild the market and provide compensation to all victims of the inferno.
The event which held on Wednesday at the office of the Oyo state governor, state secretariat, Ibadan was an annual program aimed at committing the new administrative year into God’s hands before works commence.
Governor Makinde expressed deep regret over the unfortunate fire incident which claimed several lives and destroyed properties worth millions of naira adding that he has already set up investigative panel to look into both remote and immediate cause of the inferno.
The governor promised to rebuild the market and support all victims of the fire incident in order to enable them a swift bounce back into business so as to prevent the economy of the zone from suffering downturn as a result of the incident.
Governor Makinde further reiterated his commitment to protection of lives and properties of everyone living within the borders of the state.
He affirmed that the state government has commenced the process of acquiring additional ten fire trucks to boost operations of firefighters in the state and also promised to get things right adding that residents must be safety conscious with regards to prevention of fire outbreak considering the current weather condition.
